Fundraising Tips
Tips for your Sandy Candy Booth at a Fundraising Event:
- Sandy Candy is a terrific money-maker! If you are using Sandy Candy to make a profit we suggest the following prices as your guide: 6” straws for $1.50, 12” straws for $2.00, and 20” straws for $3.00.
- Check your order upon arrival. Open the box containing your order as soon as it arrives (don’t wait until the day of your event:) to check that your order is complete.
- Easy set-up: You’ll need a pair of scissors to make ready the candy bottles, a small baggie for the candy-bottle caps, a container to hold the straw caps during the event, and if you want to cover the table a plastic dollar-store tablecloth will do the trick.
- Several days before the event: Remove the safety-seal from the candy bottles and take the caps off the tips; save them in case there are leftovers. Use scissors to snip the tops of the pointed tips: FOR SAND CANDY BOTTLES cut a very small hole, just enough to let the candy flow in a slow, thin stream. FOR PEBBLE CANDY BOTTLES snip a larger hole to allow the Pebbles to flow freely.
- A terrific time-saver: If you are using 2-ended straws (12″ or 20”), be sure to put a cap on ONE END of the straw BEFORE your event so the straws will be ready to hand to the children. On the day of your event, we also recommend keeping the straws under the table or in a container out of the children’s reach—it’s easier to keep the money-straw exchange straight.
- Pre-Advertising: One way to get the children excited about your Sandy Candy booth is to let them know ahead of time about it. Use a filled sample straw on a poster or sign in the cafeteria, office, or some other high traffic-volume area to pique their interest.
- Event-Day Advertising: Hang a SIGN above and behind your booth, high enough to be seen over a crowd. A sign hanging in front of the table will not be visible. Don’t forget to advertise that Sandy Candy is edible somewhere on the sign. Check out our Banners if you don’t want to make your own.
- Staying organized during the event: If you ordered 2 of a number of flavors, using a permanent marker, mark one set of the bottles (1 of each flavor) with an “X” on the bottom so the person running the table can quickly separate the bottles into sets while the children are working.
- Clogged straws? No problem! If straws become clogged from children touching the end of the straw to their tongue, simply cut off the plastic part that is clogged.
- Storage after the event: Put the caps back on the candy bottles and store them in a cool, dry place-ready for your next fundraising event.
- Easy Clean-up: Sandy Candy sweeps up in a jiffy!
